How to use this test

The Xbox controller test shows every input of an Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One or Elite controller live in your browser: A, B, X and Y, both bumpers, both analog triggers, the D-pad, View and Menu, the Xbox button and both sticks. It also measures stick drift and, in Chrome, Edge and Safari on Mac, makes the controller rumble.

Connect the controller with a USB cable or pair it over Bluetooth. Press any button on it so the browser can see it, then press Start. Press every button and pull each trigger slowly all the way; the picture lights up as you go. Leave the sticks untouched for a few seconds to read drift.

What the results mean

Every button should light up when pressed and go dark when released. Triggers should move smoothly from 0 to 100% without jumps. Stick drift up to about 5% at rest is normal and hidden by most games' deadzones; above 15%, characters or the camera move on their own. The Elite's back paddles usually aren't visible to browsers and won't show here.

Common questions

The Xbox button doesn't light up.

On Windows, the system often keeps the Xbox button for itself to open the Game Bar, so the browser never sees it. That's normal and doesn't mean the button is broken.

Why doesn't the rumble work?

Rumble needs Chrome or Edge, or Safari on a Mac. Firefox and the browsers on iPhone and iPad can read the controller but can't make it vibrate.

My controller isn't detected.

Press a button on the controller after connecting it; browsers only show a controller once you've used it on the page. If it still doesn't appear, try another USB cable, since some only carry power, or pair it again over Bluetooth.
