How to use this test
The PS4 controller test shows a DualShock 4's inputs live in your browser: Cross, Circle, Square and Triangle, L1, R1, L2 and R2, the D-pad, Share and Options, the PS button, the touchpad click and both analog sticks. It measures stick drift and, in Chrome, Edge and Safari on Mac, tests vibration.
Connect the controller with a micro-USB cable, or pair it over Bluetooth by holding Share and the PS button until the light bar flashes. Press any button so the browser can see it, then press Start. Press every button, squeeze the triggers slowly, and leave the sticks alone for a few seconds to read drift.
What the results mean
Every button should light up when pressed, and the triggers should rise smoothly to 100%. Drift up to about 5% at rest is normal; above 15%, characters move on their own. Worn DualShock 4 sticks often drift or don't return cleanly to the center, which the stick drift test shows in more detail.
Common questions
Does vibration work on a DualShock 4?
In Chrome and Edge, and in Safari on Mac, yes: press the rumble buttons and both motors should run. Firefox and the browsers on iPhone and iPad can't make controllers vibrate.
My DualShock 4 keeps disconnecting over Bluetooth.
A weak battery or wireless interference is the usual cause. Charge it and test it with a cable; if it works wired, the controller itself is fine.
Can stick drift on a DualShock 4 be fixed?
Sometimes cleaning around the stick base helps when dust is the cause. Worn sticks need new stick modules, which means soldering, or a new controller.
