How to use this test
The gamepad tester shows every button, trigger and stick of a connected controller in real time. It works with Xbox, PlayStation, Switch Pro and generic USB or Bluetooth controllers, and handles more than one at once. Use it to find a dead button, a trigger that doesn't travel fully or a stick that reports movement at rest.
Connect the controller by cable or Bluetooth, press any button on it, then press Start. The readout lists every button with its value and both sticks with their position. Press each button and check that its value changes, pull the triggers to see the pressure rise, and move the sticks. If you have several controllers, pick one from the menu.
What the results mean
A button whose value never changes isn't reaching the computer. Buttons read 0 at rest and 1 when pressed, and triggers should climb smoothly from 0 to 1. A stick that shows a position other than zero while you're not touching it's drifting; the Stick Drift Test measures that properly. This page doesn't read controller names or hardware IDs.
Common questions
The browser doesn't see my controller.
Browsers only expose a controller after you press a button on it. Press one, then press Start. On a Mac, some controllers need Bluetooth rather than a cable; on Windows, close Steam or other apps that remap controllers.
The button numbers don't match the labels on my controller.
The browser maps every controller to one standard layout and numbers the buttons in that order, so the numbers won't match the letters or symbols on your pad. Press one button at a time and watch which line changes.
Can I test a PS5 DualSense?
Yes. Buttons, triggers and sticks work by cable or Bluetooth. The adaptive triggers and touchpad aren't exposed to browsers.
