How to use this test

A full-screen purple page for checking a display for stuck pixels and uneven tint, or for use as a backdrop.

Press Go full screen and inspect the display. Press Esc or click Exit full screen to return.

What the results mean

Purple uses the red and blue sub-pixels, so a dot that looks wrong here but is fine on green points to one of those two. Uneven purple across the panel is a tint or uniformity issue.

Common questions

Why would I use purple rather than red or blue?

Testing a mixed color checks two sub-pixels at once and shows how evenly the panel blends them, which pure colors can't.

The purple flickers slightly.

Some displays use pulsed backlights at low brightness. Raise the brightness; if the flicker stops, it's the backlight dimming method, not a fault.

Is this the same as the violet test in some monitor tools?

Close enough for a visual check. Both mix red and blue; the exact shade doesn't matter for spotting defects.
